AGENDA

Wednesday, 14 June 2017. Setting the Stage.

Some claim that technology is moving faster than our capacity to understand it and adapt, and that we have entered a “Fourth Industrial Revolution.” As AI makes its way into every piece of software, and soon hardware, there isn’t a facet of business and society that won’t be affected. What does this mean for us today? Fireside chat: Andrew McAfee (MIT), Thomas D. Philbeck (World Economic Forum).

The buzz about AI, from the Alpha Go win to self driving cars, is all around us. We see the promise, but are also worried about the hurdles. Through a discussion with three AI experts, gain a clearer understanding of how what we define as AI, what is currently achievable today or may be achievable tomorrow, and what the limits are. What is most impactful today and what is most exciting for 2022? Intro by Theos Evgeniou (INSEAD) followed by a moderated conversation between: Yves Bernaert (Accenture), Alex Lebrun (Facebook), Andrey Sebrant (Yandex).

There is a flood of AI startups and heavy investments by a few large companies in AI – while some are waiting. Entrepreneurs like Elad Benjamin are looking to use Ai in order to take on entire industries. Established companies such as Banco Azteca are seeking to pivot and transform their business as fast as possible. Fireside chat with Alejandro Valenzuela, CEO Banco Azteca and Elad Benjamin, CEO and co-founder of Zebra Medical, moderated by Ravi Mattu (Financial Times).

Some claim that the rise of automation, robotics and machine learning will help stimulate growth, while others fear potential job displacement will lead to widening economic inequality, joblessness and political unrest. What will be the economic effects of AI on GDP and productivity in the world? In France? How will AI disrupt the labor market and what will the results be? What can leaders and businesses do to today to minimize casualties in the wake of success? Speakers: Linus Neumann (Chaos Computer Club), Christina Demetriades (Accenture), David Rodin (Oxford), Moojan Asghari (Women in AI).

AI is reshaping the workplace. Everyone, from factory workers to oil drillers to doctors to fashion designers will have to work alongside machines, sometimes very “smart “ones. What type of jobs will exist in the future? How will it change the way managers perform their jobs (from hiring, to evaluating to promoting talent)? Will the machines manage us? What type of skill sets will we need and how can companies prepare their workforce and their leadership for this new world? Moderator: Carlos Eduardo Espinal (Seedcamp). Panelists: David Yang (ABBYY), Polly Sumner (Salesforce), Jacques Bughin (McKinsey), Christos Tsolkas (Philip Morris International).

Ivan Yamschikov (Yandex; Max Planck Institute).
